twenty.one tables+terrace may actually be secretly robbing you...

A friend of mine recently put up some pretty interesting facts discovered about twenty.one tables+terrace, the one situated in Bangsar Shopping Complex...

Apparently, they round up your bills for you, and to the higher figure at that. Check out the receipts below...

Umm, I wasn't aware that it was legal to do such a thing. What was brought up is true, it's not about the money, it's more about etiquette and ethics. There's already a 10% service charge. Why should a customer be obligated to pay additional when that was not the amount spent? Puzzling. When the staff was questioned about the alleged 'rounding up', their reply was it's 'company policy'. So, the next time you patronize twenty.one tables+terrace, be sure to have a look at your receipts.

Looks like I won't be heading to twenty.one tables+terrace anytime soon...

isn't it the 5% govt tax?

yeah did noticed that..

sevice tax = 10%
??&*%$ tax = 5%
Round up = RM O.50 <--- Nonsense round up

Should report to the authorities tho.. it's not about the 50 cent matter, customer just desrevs to know their rights for paying that RM0.50..

Company policy?? Lets ask the authority if it is a legal policy to be practised..

Well, the person who brought this subject to my attention is not letting this go easy. She has confirmed by 2 of her lawyers already and has raised this with BNM since her aunt is in the legal department for BNM. BNM has replied and apparently this Mr. Holland needs to get his facts right before replying. She even sent me a link. http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=209&pg=657&ac=567
Anyway, she will now head off to the Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna (KPDNHEP) to seek further clarification. :)
