Astro Boy originated as a manga by Osamu Tezuka, who is often reputed as the "god of manga". It was later adapted in to an anime as well and some say, was one of the animes that birthed the whole anime and mecha culture.
This is some really 'old school' shit, going way back even before the 'Doraemon' era. I really hope Hollywood doesn't butcher this.
